Taking the Scenic Route

Almost half of Jordan is a desert, so why not go the whole hog and make like a desert nomad? Aside from actually riding a camel, that is. Wadi Rum is famous thanks to Lawrence of Arabia, who had a temporary home there. Today, it’s a kind of national park for hiking and climbing sand dunes. So of course, we needed to climb a small one, then visit some interesting rock formations. There is even some prehistoric rock art that survives thanks to the dry climate. Then we stayed in a Bedouin themed camp, but with proper plumbing and air con. This would have been a fantastic opportunity for some star gazing, only the moon was full so no dark skies. We made do with watching the sunset over the desert.

The desert is endless!
